He began his musical education at the Zurich Conservatory (1909-1911), but his career would be most closely associated with France.
Influences and Early Works
Honegger's early compositions were influenced by the prevailing impressionist style, but they also hinted at his mature manner.
He employed linear writing, complex and sometimes atonal harmonies, and an energetic rhythm. His teachers included André Gedalge, Charles-Marie Widor, and Vincent d'Indy.
