    Luisa Igloria

    American poet

    Luisa A. Igloria (born 1961) is a Filipina American poet[1] and author of various award-winning collections, and is the most recent Poet Laureate of Virginia (2020-2022).[2]

    Early life and education

    Luisa Aguilar Igloria was born in 1961 in Baguio, Philippines.

    She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in humanities, graduating cum laude with a major in comparative literature, a minor in English, and a cognate in philosophy from the University of the Philippines Baguio in 1980. She then obtained her Master of Arts in literature at Ateneo de Manila University in 1988, where she was a Robert Southwell Fellow.
