Thomas Hardy was born on 2nd June 1840 in Dorset (England) to parents Thomas and Jemima.
Hardy had three siblings, and his upbringing in the rural countryside influenced many of his works later in life. Thomas Hardy was educated at a private school in Dorchester (England), and chose not to go on to study at university.
